In the years to come, digital health tools and technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are expected to integrate further into the healthcare industry due to the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, more and more companies are collaborating for the mutual benefits of implementing these new technologies. US-based company Paige recently announced a collaboration with Microsoft to apply AI for digital pathology images.

GlobalData forecasts that the market for AI platforms for the entire healthcare industry will reach $4.3bn by 2024, up from $1.bn in 2019. This will be driven by the use of AI by healthcare providers and payers, which is forecast to reach $2.9bn by 2024. With AI-powered technologies being developed and deployed increasingly in the healthcare industry, new ways that AI-driven technologies are being implemented can be observed. This new collaboration opens new opportunities and improvements in the field of digital pathology.

Implementing AI in cancer diagnostics and patient care will improve life-saving diagnostics and contribute to research in oncology and pathology. With numerous healthcare companies already implementing high-tech solutions into existing healthcare systems, the AI industry is expected to grow in the upcoming years.
